Geek Riddles and Jokes
January 14, 2004
If you don't get these jokes, then you aren't a geek, which is not a good thing.
I.E "SELECT * FROM readers WHERE clue > 0"
- There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
- There's no place like 127.0.0.1
- Shakespeare: "/(bb|[^b]{2})/"
- How many people can read hex if only you and dead hex readers can read hex?
If you don't understand any of these, highlight just below this line and drag down.
- 1. "10" is 2 in binary. Technically, it should look like: "00000010".
- 2. 127.0.0.1 is the Home IP address.
- 3. Hamlet to be specific it says: "To be or not to be"
- 4. Answer: 57006 (explanation below)
- Fun With HEXADECIMAL
D = 13 -- 16^3=4096 -- 13 *4096 = 53248
E = 14 -- 16^2=256 -- 14*256 = 3548
A = 10 -- 16^1=16 -- 10*16 = 160
D = 13 -- 16^0=1 -- 13*1 = 1
53248+3548+160+1+1(you)=57006
I've seen shirts with some of these sayings for sale on thinkgeek.com. I even considered buying one that has your first example for my brother.
Posted by: Jill at January 15, 2004 09:03 AMI love thinkgeek.com. They have a sweet on there. It sounds weird, and it would take some getting used to, but it would be a perfect desktop item.
Plus only you would know what time it is. I think that's the attraction to being a geek nowadays. We have all the power.

I only understood the SQL and 127.0.0.1 ones so I am not a complete geek.
