Last Night's Sleep

January 16, 2004

I woke up at about four o'clock this morning to a rather disturbing dream. What happened in the dream isn't important. But what strikes me as interesing was my state upon awakening. I was wide awake from the moment I opened my eyes. I looked around my bedroom, visibly shaken. After several minutes of lying there, heart pounding, I got up, used the restroom, got a drink of juice and attempted to return to my slumber.

The reason I bring it up is because I was amazed that a dream could affect me in such a way. I was so disturbed I almost decided to stay awake and not go back to sleep (which is a big deal, for me.) Has this ever happened to you?

Once I returned to my bed, I was still quite disturbed. I thought, "I should blog this." I decided it was too cold to get out of bed to grab my PowerBook, opting instead to wait 'til this morning. Typing this now, I'm sure it would have been a much more emotionaly genuine post at four. However, my grammar would have suffered. I think next time I'll force myself to stay awake and make a fresh post instead of "sleeping on it."

Just for fun, does anyone want to take a guess at my dream? or nightmare rather?

I don't think I could guess, but I'm rather intrigued by what this dream was now. I don't really dream much. Well, if I do dream I don't remember it. I wake up with the sensation of falling a lot, but otherwise no real dreaming for me that I can recall.
