Office Couture
I've always taken a lot of pride in the way I dress. Now, I admit I haven't always had the money to dress very well, but I always did what I could with what I had.
Since I've graduated college and entered the professional world, I have learned one interesting thing about clothes. So, here it is: your clothes say just as much about who you are as what comes out of your mouth.
It's been said by many people, that you can tell a lot about a man by his shoes. And it is with this mentality, that when I first graduated, I bought a really nice expensive pair of Kenneth Cole's that I would only wear to religious meetings a couple of times a week. I also had a cheaper, rubber-soled pair of black shoes that I'd wear to work four days a week.
After I went through a $60 pair of shoes in less than six months, I went out and bought a much nicer pair of shoes that cost a bit more, about $100. I figured, since I wear them four days a week to work, they should probably be my most expensive shoes (which they're actually not anymore). This second pair lasted me about a year.
So, this time, I went to a much, much nicer (in my opinion) brand of shoes (KC, baby!) and only spent a little more.
Thus far, I've only spoken about shoes. But this philosophy applies to all of my work clothes. They are by far the most bought out of all the clothes I've bought in the last two years. Again, this makes a lot of sense to me because I spend four days a week in these clothes and I should spend accordingly.
